Subscribe To Anna Kendrick Gets Down To No Diggity In Pitch Perfect Teaser Updates
Coming off her final performance in the Twilight franchise, Oscar nominee Anna Kendrick has been gleefully returning to comedy, first with a voice acting role in the spooky animated adventure ParaNorman, then in the female-fronted musical Pitch Perfect. Inspired by GQ editor Mickey Rapkin's nonfiction novel Pitch Perfect: The Quest for Collegiate A Cappella Glory, this spirited comedy adapted by 30 Rock scribe Kay Connor stars Kendrick as Beca, the newest member of The Bellas, Barden University's sassy all-girl a capella group that is engaged in a heated battle of the sexes against the campus's all-male song troupe known as "the bad boys of a cappella."

Pitch Perfect's first trailer showcased not only Kendrick's lovely singing voice, but also lots of attitude and an ensemble cast that boasts Bridesmaids' Rebel Wilson, Hairspray's Brittany Snow, and True Blood's Anna Camp. Now, Universal Pictures is luring viewers in with a fuller look at the crucial "Riff-off" where the dueling a capella groups face off with impromptu performances based on a common theme. Things get steamy at the bottom of a drained pool when the topic turns to sex, and the tunes turn to some sultry '90s hits. Check the singing showdown out below, courtesy of MSN:

This appears to be a turning point for Kendrick's seemingly introverted character both within the group and perhaps romantically. The earlier trailer teased a love story between Beca and a cute rival played by Skylar Astin (Girls), and aside from stepping out of the background of this ballad brawl with "No Diggity", she also catches her crush's eye with her rapping prowess. Get it, girl!

Pitch Perfect opens October 5. For more information on the film, check out our Blend Film Database.
