Daddy's Home 2 Is Officially Happening, Get The Details

Some of the best humor of all time has come from strong comedic duos. From icons like Abbott and Costello to recent revelations like Key and Peele, the chemistry between two comic actors can elevate a film to greatness. One of the most wholly underrated comedic duos of our time comes in the form of the pairing between Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg. Their latest cinematic effort, Daddy’s Home, performed admirably with critics and audiences, and now it seems that there’s more story to tell.

A new report from Movie Web indicates that a sequel to last year’s Daddy’s Home is now officially in development. The project will see Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg return as Brad and Dusty, respectively. Beyond that, not much has come forward in terms of plot details or information as to where the story may go from here. Although the original Daddy’s Home more or less ended with a jovial resolution to the conflict between Brad and Dusty, it also set the stage for future potential storyline by introducing new characters to the fray for them to go head to head with in a potential sequel.

We’re not even remotely surprised that Daddy’s Home will receive a sequel. Despite facing off against Star Wars: The Force Awakens last December, the buddy comedy still managed to rake in an admirable $240 million between the foreign and domestic box offices. For a relatively low-budget comedy facing off against one of the highest grossing films of all time, that’s an incredible feat.

Mark Wahlberg and Will Ferrell have proven time and time again that they have incredible chemistry with one another, first in the 2010 comedy The Other Guys, then again with Daddy’s Home, and – perhaps most importantly – behind the scenes during the marketing campaigns for both films. Wahlberg’s macho tough-guy persona perfectly balances out Ferrell’s manic man-child tendencies, resulting in comedy that can cover a wide range of tones and audiences.

Just check out the below video to get an instant understanding of how much comedy can be milked from the chemistry between these two actors:

We will bring you more information regarding Daddy’s Home 2 as it becomes available to us. Few plot details have been revealed at this early stage in the sequel’s development, but we’re on board as long as Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg bring the same level of energy that they brought to the first film.
