New Dark Knight Rises Blu-ray Feature Focuses On Catwoman

As the film world – specifically the small slice of journalists obsessed with the Oscars – goes gaga over Anne Hathaway’s turn as Fantine in Tom Hooper’s Les Miserables, Warner Bros. tries to remind audiences that the gifted actress already put her stamp on a memorable role earlier this year.

Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises reaches Blu-ray, DVD and Digital Download on Dec. 4, and the studio continues to tease the summer blockbuster with bonus featurettes detailing the cast and the special effects. A third clip drops online today, with a focus falling on Hathaway’s version of Selina Kyle … aka Catwoman (shared via the movie’s Facebook page and ComingSoon).

Hathaway showed her versatility by playing Catwoman with the expected sensuality and a hint of danger that’s essential to the character. There’s a reason why, in the early days before Nolan actually opened The Dark Knight Rises, Warner focused a lot of its campaign on Catwoman. Remember the earliest photos we were able to see from the movie? Catwoman on the Bat-pod, and stealing jewels from Bruce Wayne’s safe? She’s a major reason why the film did as well as it did in theaters … and why it’s expected to dominate once it reaches DVD shelves. Batman fans are going to want to complete the collection on their shelves, and revisit Nolan’s farewell to the Dark Knight saga. Will Oscar remember Batman, as well? Time will tell.
