New Fast & Furious 7 Trailer Is Action-Packed And Awesome

Thanks to the Super Bowl, we started this week off with an extremely badass new look at James Wan’s Furious 7, but that’s not all Universal Pictures has provided us this week. Tonight saw the release of a brand new trailer for the upcoming action film – and you can see it below!

"This right here takes crazy to a whole other level."

While that line by Tyrese Gibson’s Roman in this new trailer is a bit of a cliché, it’s also fairly appropriate for what’s on display in this new footage. After all, we not only get clips of both the airplane drop from the first trailer, and the car skyscraper jump that was featured in the Super Bowl spot, but we also get an incredibly badass fight between Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham. Johnson vs. Statham, people!

Johnson vs. Statham

Beyond just the pulse-raising action, this trailer also serves the duties of a second feature-length trailer, as it actually gives us a bit of background regarding who Jason Statham’s character is and what he can do. Apparently his training comes from his time as an assassin with special forces – but this apparently wasn’t a great idea, as Dwayne Johnson’s Luke Hobbs has no problems literally calling him a monster. We see him operate with guns, fists and explosives during the course of this trailer, and he looks incredibly lethal with all of them.

Based on a script by Chris Morgan – who has penned every Fast & Furious film since the third installment, Tokyo Drift - Furious 7 picks up shortly after the events of the last film – and finds Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel), Brian O'Conner (Paul Walker) and the rest of the Fast gang facing off against an enemy unlike any they’ve seen before. As it turns out, Deckard Shaw (Jason Statham) is not at all happy about how the car riding crew killed his brother, Owen (Luke Evans), in Fast & Furious 6, and is looking for all-out, bloody revenge. Dwayne Johnson, Tyrese Gibson, Ludacris, Jordana Brewster, Elsa Pataky, Lucas Black and Michelle Rodriguez have all returned for the new sequel, while the film’s lineup of franchise newcomers includes not only Statham, but also Kurt Russell, Djimon Hounsou, Tony Jaa, Iggy Azalea, and Ronda Rousey.

Furious 7 will be skyscraper jumping to a theater near you on April 3rd.
