First Trailer For Guillermo Del Toro's Epic Pacific Rim Explodes Online

Guillermo del Toro's Pacific Rim is easily one of the most anticipated films of 2013. The director's first film in five years, the epic promises battles between giant monsters and giant mechs, and we just can't wait to see how it all plays out on the big screen - and that's even before a single piece of real footage from the movie has been publicly released. A trailer was shown at San Diego Comic Con earlier this year, but even that is a distant memory at this point. But today it all changes. Today we finally have a trailer.

You can watch the debut preview below and to see it in high-res head on over to Apple.

Based on an original screenplay by Travis Beacham, Pacific Rim is set in a distant future where a portal to another universe has opened up underneath the Pacific Ocean and begins to spill out all kinds of horrific, Lovecraftian-type monsters. As coastal cities are destroyed and the world is left in peril, a program is created to build giant mechanical suits that pilots can use to take down the beasts and defend our world. The stacked cast includes Charlie Hunnam, Rinko Kikuchi, Charlie Day, Ron Perlman, Idris Elba, Burn Gorman and Clifton Collins Jr. Sadly we still have a very long time to wait before Warner Bros. releases the film in theaters, as its set to debut the weekend of July 12th next year, but in the meantime you can get your fix with news, images, posters and more posted in our Blend Film Database.
