With Captain America: The Winter Soldier out in theaters, we've been spending a lot of time looking at the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe - and that means thinking a lot about James Gunn's Guardians of the Galaxy. Continuing Marvel Studios' pattern of releasing two movies per year, the sci-fi epic is scheduled to hit theaters this summer, which means that the next few months will be filled with ll kinds of different previews, trailers and clips. Take today for example. Following the latest episode of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. that aired this evening, Marvel unveiled a new featurette for Guardians - and now that video has arrived online via Yahoo!

I don't know if it's because the effects aren't ready to show off or what, but I must say that I am somewhat disappointed by the lack of any real new footage in this spot. With the exception of the scene where Gamora (Zoe Saldana) is handing over a mysterious orb to Star-Lord (Chris Pratt), all of the clips shown were included in the trailer that debuted earlier this year:

That said, we do get to see some cool behind-the-scenes footage and it's cool to hear the actors talk a bit more in-depth about their characters (plus a few words of wisdom from Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige). The film most definitely continues to be my most anticipated movie of the summer, and I can't wait to see how the whole thing turns out.

Both written and directed by Gunn, Guardians of the Galaxy centers on Peter Quill a.k.a. Star-Lord, a half-alien, half-human who was taken away from Earth when he was just a kid and has spent his entire adult life being a general Han Solo-type badass. Things get a bit rocky, however, when Star-Lord gets his hands on an orb that is far more powerful than he knows. This action gets the attention of some serious baddies - Ronan The Accuser (Lee Pace) and Nebula (Karen Gillan) - who will stop at nothing to get the device. This requires Star-Lord to team up with four other misfits much like himself: Gamora, Drax The Destroyer (Dave Bautista), Rocket Raccoon (Bradley Cooper) and Groot (Vin Diesel). Together they work to not only stay alive, but also protect the galaxy from destruction.

It hopefully won't be too long until we get to see another trailer for Guardians of the Galaxy, but until then its August 1st release date will continue to feel forever away.
