Guardians Of The Galaxy Releases Its First Poster, New Star-Lord And Gamora Featurettes

While J.J. Abrams' Star Wars: Episode VII won't be coming until December 2015, this summer will provide its own group of space-traveling heroes who work to save the universe from evil. I am, of course, referring to the release of Marvel Studios' Guardians of the Galaxy. We haven't been able to stop talking about the film this week thanks to the amazing trailer that was released on Tuesday, and Marvel just keeps giving us more to talk about. Earlier today we got to hear Rocket Raccoon speak for the first time in his very own mini-featurette, and that was followed by a pair of Drax and Groot-centered clips, but now we have even more! Marvel Studios has unveiled the first ever poster for Guardians of the Galaxy as well as two more featurettes, these ones centering on Chris Pratt's Peter "Star-Lord" Quill and Zoe Saldana's Gamora.

In the premiere trailer Quill was definitely the star of the show, even though his co-stars attracted plenty of attention with their general weirdness. This movie will be the first time that Chris Pratt will be the leading man in a feature film, but he looks more than up to the task. The guy is not only incredibly funny - see his work on Parks and Recreation for all the evidence you need - but also has a lot of charisma and on-screen presence. I can't wait to see how in interacts with a pair of colorful aliens, a talking raccoon and a giant walking tree.

Both written and directed by James Gunn, Guardians of the Galaxy begins following the story of Peter Quill, a half-human, half-alien who left Earth behind when he was seven years old and hasn't looked back since. He grows up to live the life of a Han Solo-esque rogue, zooming around the galaxy in his spaceship, but he enters a whole lot of trouble when he steals a mysterious orb. This action attracts the attention of some serious bad guys - Ronan The Accuser (Lee Pace), Nebula (Karen Gillan) and Korath The Pursuer (Djimon Hounsou) - who would love to do nothing more than steal the orb and wipe Peter out of the universe. In order to survive, the anti-hero forms a loose bond with a group of other misfits, Gamora, Rocket Raccoon, Drax The Destroyer (Dave Bautista) and Groot (Vin Diesel). Look for the movie in theaters on August 1st, and for some in-depth analysis of the trailer be sure to check out the latest episode of Hero Blend!
