Lost Boys 2 Director Gets Aces Prequel

I was a little surprised that any studio greenlit a prequel to Smokin' Aces, given that it was a marginal hit at best and the director, Joe Carnahan, has much higher-profile projects in the works. But now the picture is a little clearer. Carnahan has announced on his blog that he won't be the one directing the new movie-- he's passed that duty on to P.J. Pesce, who last made the direct-to-DVD Lost Boys sequel.

Carnahan sounds stoked about the news in his post, writing "I think he's going to do a great f*cking job." But you have to wonder if there's a little overcompensating going on. Lost Boys 2 wasn't exactly the best-received sequel that no one really asked for, as you can tell in the comments section below Carnahan's post. But if he trusts the guy, he trusts him. Everyone has to start somewhere, right?
