Last night, on the eve of Katy Perry: Part of Me's release, the titular pop princess performed before a packed naval yard in Brooklyn, New York, belting out some of her biggest hits to a exhilarated crowd of enlisted men and women celebrating Independence Day. Wearing her love of America literally on her sleeve with a star-spangled dress that resembled Old Glory, Perry delivered "Firework" minutes before Macy's set off their spectacular fireworks display. Beyond being a vibrant moment of peppy patriotism, her rousing performance also served as a spirited promotion of her new concert doc, which hits theaters today.

This morning, Paramount followed up by tweeting a new trailer—viewable below—that unveils the key being invited on stage at one of Perry's concerts:

As I detail in my review, more than just an exuberant 3D experience, Katy Perry: Part of Me is an intriguing behind-the-scenes look at how Perry's stage show and persona are put together. Team Perry is a close-knit group, but as devoted as her stylist and make-up artist are to Perry, who plucked them both out of obscurity when she rose to fame, her most dedicated ally is her sister, Angela Hudson.

Hudson has a variety of responsibilities on Perry's California Dreams tour, but chief among them is selecting fans from the crowd to go onstage for a joyous dance number. Of course, as revealed above, it takes more than spotting Angela to get a backstage pass. It also takes a crazy costume akin to Perry's wildly self-expressive style. Let that be a lesson: next time you go to a Perry concert, dress to impress!
