Pitt And Jones Head For Pinkville

It appears that Oliver Stone is assembling his army in a hurry. Just yesterday we reported on the addition of rapper Xzibit to the cast of Pinkville as one of the soldiers responsible for the 1968 My Lai Massacre. Now we know who ordered Xzibit to pull the trigger… or at least who’s in talks to play him.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Michael Pitt is in talks to play Lt. William Calley, the officer who was found guilty of issuing the order for the massacre of over 500 people, including women, children, and the elderly. Pitt is best known for roles in movies with more of a cult following, like Dreamers and Hedwig and the Angry Inch. While he has dabbled in some mainstream pictures, this would certainly put the actor front and center in a pretty hefty picture. While talks between the actor’s reps and United Artists have been confirmed, it’s currently unknown what stage they are in.

Among other casting news for Pinkville, the Reporter offers the name Toby Jones (Infamous) as Lt. Andre Feher, the chief warrant officer who clues Bruce Willis’s General William Peers into the idea that American troops were behind the massacre. Jones is yet another big name among a cast that includes Willis, Xzibit, Channing Tatum, and Woody Harrelson. Quite an eclectic mix, eh?

Production for the movie won’t start until next year, but the news is really coming in quickly as Stone assembles his cast. I’m not sure if it’s coincidence or chance, but the picture certainly seems to be moving ahead very fast.
