Poster For Revolutionary Road

How do you sell a movie set in the 1950s in which pretty much nothing good happens, and the central couple hates each others guts? Well, you start by orchestrating a Titanic reunion, casting Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio, and then you cook up a poster that looks pretty much like a generic romantic drama, without a hint of the suburban ennui and desperation that actually characterizes the movie.

It's a handy trick, and will probably work for Revolutionary Road, which has released its first poster. Relying on nothing but the names of its stars and their pretty faces, the poster tells you pretty much all you need to know to get to the theater, and nothing that might keep you away. It's vague enough not to piss off the purists who love the book, but simple enough to intrigue people who are looking for a romance with a happy ending. Fair warning, without spoilers: You won't find it.
