Razzie Awards

I can’t believe I’m about to question the legitimacy of the Razzie Awards. The Razzies, which honor the worst in film, have been a staple over the past few years. But today, the Razzies have decided to morph into Michael Moore’s 6th grade logic and nominate George Bush, Condoleeza Rice, Donald Rumsfeld and Britney Spears (she was nominated for 5 seconds of film time). Ha ha, we get it, you’re a funny guy! But even if you hate them, I think a rational person could grasp that they weren’t acting. I figure even the most hardcore anti-bushites would think that Bush is an evil manipulator and calculated everything! I didn’t think its possible for the Razzies to become even less pertinent, but hey it isn’t as ridiculous as Fahrenheit 9/11 winning People’s Choice for Best Picture. Anyways, I better get off that soap box before my inbox is full.

Catwoman lead all movies with 7 nominations including the “Razzie Holy Grail” of worst picture, worst actor, worst supporting actress, and worst supporting actor. Rarely has a movie sucked on so many levels. For that, I applaud Catwoman! If you are gonna do something, put your heart into it!

A great moment in Razzie history is when Bill Cosby won for “Worst Actor” in Leonard Part VI. In a great show of class, Cosby demanded his award. No one else in the history of the Razzies had actually wanted the award; classic! We can only hope that George Bush addresses this situation in his State of the Union Address. Well, I’ve wasted enough of my life typing this, I just hope you read it and/or send hate mail to matt@cinemablend.com . Check BNN tomorrow morning for complete coverage of the Oscars.
