Below we have the first poster image of Twilight heartthrob Robert Pattinson in his Cosmopolis role, which will be shaped and guided by the great David Cronenberg. It was posted over on, though there was some image confusion earlier in the day. More on that in a minute. For now, here’s the banner:

Cronenberg’s film – an adaptation of a Don DeLillio novel – casts RPatz as Eric Packer, a multimillionaire traipsing across Manhattan in search of a decent haircut. Of course, the film will be about much more than that. There are deep-seeded discussions about sex, vulnerability and the damage inflicted by father-son conflicts. But the story promises to be long stretches of Pattinson in a tricked-out limo as he gambles on the financial futures of himself and those close to him.

And not a single vampire in sight.

As for the image confusion, it seems the Web site BleedingCool was tricked into posting a fan made poster for Cronenberg’s film, which eventually was debunked as a fake. It’s still pretty cool, and can be found by clicking the above like. But it’s generic, and doesn’t feature a brooding Pattinson contemplating his next move. Guess which one RPatz fans will prefer?

I remain interested in seeing where the Twilight cast goes once their franchise draws to a close. Pattinson is making bold casting decisions, which I hope continues. Cosmopolis will be in theaters in 2012. It co-stars Paul Giamatti, Juliette Binoche, Samatha Morton and Jay Baruchel.
