Shrek The Third Adds New Cast Members

Shrek the Third is racking up quite a hefty cast. Veterans Mike Meyers, Cameron Diaz, Eddie Murphy, Antonio Banderas, Julie Andrews, Jon Cleese and Rupert Everett will be joined by a whole host of more comedy giants.

The story behind the movie takes Shrek, Donkey and Puss in Boots on a quest to find Fiona's runaway cousin Arthur to take his rightful place on the throne. Justin Timberlake will be voicing "Artie" but that's just the start.

While the boys are off on their adventure, Princess Fiona and her mother Queen Lillian must stave off Prince Charming's efforts to take over the throne. To aid their efforts the ladies recruit a princess powerhouse force and filmmakers have selected sketch comedy powerhouses to play them. TV show "Strangers With Candy" star Amy Sedaris will voice Cinderella, while "Saturday Night Live" members Amy Poehler, Maya Rudolph, and Cheri Oteri will play Sleeping Beauty, Rapunzel and Snow White respectively.

If all those princesses aren't enough, some new male characters are stepping into the spotlight. "Deadwood"'s Ian McShane has been cast as Captain Hook, "The Office" star John Krasinski will play Sir Lancelot, and John Cleese's Monty Python buddy Eric Idle will lend his voice to Merlin.

That's a lot of new characters to keep up with. The movie franchise already has a large main cast which has now nearly tripled in size. That's a little scary to consider, but Shrek and friends have yet to disappoint.
