One major change that will be happening to Marvel Studios in their Phase Two plans is that their films will no longer be tied to the summer season. While Iron Man 3 is set to arrive in theaters on May 3rd, Thor: The Dark World won't be released by the studio until November. Sadly this means we will have a long time to wait until there's any kind of marketing push for the sequel, but at the very least we have this new official shot from the movie's set.
We've been hearing a lot about the Empire 2013 Superhero Preview issue today, from the Man of Steel cover to the new Wolverine still, but now it's the God of Thunder's time to be in the spotlight. Sadly I can't say it's the most thrilling image, simply featuring Chris Hemsworth in costume alongside new director Alan Taylor (Game of Thrones, Rome), but it's still cool to get a peek back into the godly realm of Asgard. See the image below and head over to Comic Book Movie to see the full-size scan.
A sequel to both Joss Whedon's The Avengers and Kenneth Branagh's Thor, the new movie finds the god of thunder *Hemsworth) returning home to his realm with his mischievous/dangerous brother Loki (Tom Hiddleston), only to once again find everything he loves threatened - this time by the evil dark elf Malekith the Accursed (Christopher Eccleston). Anthony Hopkins, Natalie Portman, Kat Dennings, Jaimie Alexander, Idris Elba, Ray Stevenson, Tadanobu Asano, Rene Russo and Stellan Skarsgard will all reprise their roles from the last solo Thor film while new additions include Zachary Levi (who replaces Josh Dallas as Fandral), Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje (as Algrim/Kurse), Richard Brake, and Clive Russell.
