Two More Join Taymor's Tempest

Reeve Carney is probably one of the luckiest guys on the planet. Yesterday he was the lead singer of a Los Angeles band with no national recognition; today he has joined the cast of The Tempest, all because Julie Taymor went to see his band perform. Carney and Chris Cooper are the latest pair to join this insane adaptation of Shakespeare's play, which has the potential to be one giant mess or completely brilliant.

The Hollywood Reporter writes that Cooper will plan Antonio, who usurps the power of Prospera (Helen Mirren; in the play the character is Prospero, a man). Reeve will play Ferdinand, the son of the King of Naples, who is played by Jeremy Irons.

Production begins next week in Hawaii, and I continue to hope that somehow this movie and Lost overlap while they're out there. Each of them are crazy on their own, but put them together and they could be totally brilliant. No, really! It could happen!
