Twohy Refuses PG-13 For Riddick 3

Director David Twohy is still talking more Chronicles of Riddick sequels. Both he and Riddick star Vin Diesel have adamantly declared to the press in the past that more movies are coming, yet nothing ever seems to have come of it. They’re at it again.

Twohy spoke about the Riddick franchise to Shock Till You Drop and told them, “I've sketched out two ideas for the next installment.” This is of course, in direct conflict with what Vin Diesel had to say back in March when he claimed they were so far along that David Twohy was on the verge of finishing the script. Yet here’s Twohy, barely getting started on sketching out ideas.

Bottom line here, you can’t believe anything either of these guys have to say on the subject. So Riddick fans, don’t get too excited when I tell you the rest of what Twohy revealed. He says they’ve decided on one of those two ideas to go forward with but that they can’t get studios interested in anything that’s not PG-13, “and we don't want to do that anymore. That's one of the concessions we thought we made with 'Riddick' that we shouldn't have made,” says Twohy.

So should the movie at some point exist, they’ll have to scale it back, maybe to the indie movie level used in the first film Pitch Black . That’s probably a good thing, since over the top special effects and excessive CGI (particularly towards the end of the film) is what ruined the second movie for many.
