Vampires Suck Trailer Parodies Twilight With Cheap Laughs

The trailer says, “From the guys who couldn’t sit through another vampire movie.” What it should say is, “From the guys who brought you such idiotic flicks as Meet the Spartans, Disaster Movie and a whole host of other parody films, comes another flick poking juvenile fun at the newest thing to grab the collective attention, vampires.” So goes the newest film from the writer-director team of Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer.

In Friedberg and Seltzer’s defense, they’ve made a living off bringing out the stupidity in many movies people go gaga over already. They’ve hit the horror genre (Scary Movie), romantic comedy (Date Movie), big budget blockbuster (Epic Movie), and really everything else in between. Granted, the movies they make usually more terrible than their material, but presumably these two are just laughing all the way to the bank.

Their newest addition to the franchise comes in the form of Vampires Suck, and by the looks of it they’ve used their standard formula of pandering to the lowest common denominator by going for the cheapest laughs possible. Of course Twilight is an incredibly easy target and the Seltzer and Friedberg seem to have just gone scene-by-scene through the series to find the jokes. Vampires see people as big hamburgers, Taylor Lautner takes his shirt off, Robert Pattinson looks like he powders his face to get the ultra-sickly look. They’ve got it all there, and it looks pretty terrible.
