Are Vision And Scarlet Witch An Item In Captain America: Civil War? Elizabeth Olsen Explains

With just over a month before the release of Captain America: Civil War, fans are still wondering how being forced to take sides in the conflict will affect the existing relationships between the characters. One relationship that we’re especially interested in is the one that hasn’t really happened yet. In the comics, the characters of Vision and Scarlet Witch have been together, and even been married, but will there be anything between the two of them on the movie screen? According to Elizabeth Olsen, the answer is yes, but possibly not in the same way.

Speaking with ET Online, the actress behind Scarlet Witch says that her character, and that of Paul Bettany, will find a connection between each other. However, Elizabeth Olsen makes it sound less like romance, and more like each one finding a kindred spirit in the other. Although, that will lead to some moments between the two.

You learn a little bit more about what connects [Scarlet and Vision] in this film. And I think there's some really sweet moments between Paul and I, and it's more about how they relate to one another and their similarities just based on their superpowers.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe has taken a slightly different path, storyline-wise, than these characters did in comic books and so the backstories of Scarlet Witch and Vision aren’t quite the same. In the MCU, the characters actually have a lot more in common. Vision is an entirely artificial creation, as he was in the comics, while Wanda Maximoff is human. She received her abilities via HYDRA scientific experiments, which she’s only recently begun to use. As a pair of "new" heroes the two likely have a lot more in common with each other than most of the other Avengers.

Of course, we also know that the two will find themselves on opposite sides of the title conflict in Captain America: Civil War. Maximoff will side with Captain America, while Vision will be on Team Iron Man. This means that whatever friendship, or budding romance, the two may have, it will be tested. One scene from the trailer gives us the distinct impression that it won’t go well between them.

Do you want to see something blossom between Scarlet Witch and Vision or do you want to see the MCU focus more on the superhero action, and less on the interpersonal relationships? Let us know what you think in the comments.
