X3: Crowded House

X3 continues adding new characters unabated, and if you thought it was already a little crowded hold on, they’re just getting started.

In the past few weeks we’ve heard that pretty much all of the mutant characters from X2 will return for the third film (yes even Cyclops) while director Mathew Vaughn brings in new faces as well. To date, those new faces are Gambit, Angel (male, not female as rumored), Beast, Bolivar Trask (who created the Sentinels, though there are at least four different opinions on whether or not everyone’s favorite purple robots will show up), and Juggernaut (who may be played by the overrated and completely wrong for the X-Men universe Vinnie Jones). Well, here’s the next addition. According to Comic Book Movie News the film will also feature a bigger role for fan favorite Kitty Pride aka Shadowcat.

Kitty cameoed in both of the previous X-Men films, you may remember her from X2 as the girl who fell through the floor of her room to escape Stryker’s attacking brute squad. Well, as they did with the characters of Pyro and Iceman, this time she’s moving up front and center to take on a larger role. Unlike Iceman though, the part is being recast, presumable to find someone who can act. Fox is currently hunting for a 17-year old actress with mutant powers.

If the thought of so many characters being crowded into one movie scares you, here’s a little nugget that’ll make you feel even worse: According to CHUD.com, Mathew Vaughn wrote the script for X3 in only six days. Somehow I doubt he stopped to proofread. The last time something was created in six days it was called planet Earth, and has since widely been regarded as a very bad idea. X3 seems on track to be much much worse.
