When you have a franchise as big as the Marvel Cinematic Universe, a lot of characters start to pile up. Most of the Marvel heroes have returned for multiple movies, but with the side characters and villains, their prominence isn't guaranteed. Fortunately, there have been a number of supporting players over the years that have had their chance to shine, but for some of them, we believe their chances have run out for the future.

Having released 13 movies over eight years, some of the MCU's priorities aren't the same as they were a few years ago, and with new characters being introduced in each movie, that means new people are getting the spotlight shined on them. This also means that people we met and grew to know a while back probably won't return. We've gathered up the seven MCU characters who are unlikely to be seen again given where we last left them onscreen or how their fates have already been addressed offscreen.

Abomination

Abomination

Emil Blonsky, a.k.a. The Abomination, is notable for being one of the few main MCU antagonists who hasn't been killed off. When we last saw him in The Incredible Hulk, he'd just been beaten to a pulp by the Green Goliath, and passing dialogue in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has since revealed that he's in the spy organization's custody. While it would be great to see a rematch between Hulk and Abomination on the big screen, because Marvel isn't keen on making an Incredible Hulk sequel due to their "situation with Universal, that's probably not going to happen. Plus, Hulk is about to travel across the Nine Realms in Thor: Ragnarok, and then he and his fellow heroes will be dealing with Thanos in the Avengers: Infinity War movies. There's not really time for Hulk to battle Abomination on the side, so the latter will stay imprisoned for the foreseeable future.
