When James Gunn May Finally Reveal The Last Hidden Guardians Of The Galaxy Easter Egg

While Marvel Studios' industry redefining comic book films are broad enough for everyone to enjoy, there are always easter eggs peppered throughout for comic book savvy fans to find and share. One particular easter egg has become something of a legend in the MCU fan community, mainly because no one has ever found it. There's still one notorious secret hidden in Guardians of the Galaxy and director James Gunn might finally break his vow of silence and put an end to the two-year hunt. This is when the director might finally spill the beans.

James Gunn took to Twitter to reveal that the earliest he's willing to divulge the easter egg isn't until a while after Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. And even then he might change his mind and wait even longer. Gunn has previously said that he never wants to reveal the easter egg, and hopes that no one ever finds it. Now it seems like he's finally willing to throw people a bone, but it doesn't look likely for at least another year.

People have been claiming for years to have found the missing Guardians of the Galaxy easter egg, but they've all been shut down at one point or another. I can't even begin to speculate what it could be, but at this point the hype might be more exciting than the actual reveal. Whatever the secret is, it might never live up to the expectations that some have built up for themselves, especially if it turns out to be something simple.

By the time someone figures out the infamous secret, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 will probably have its own impossibly hard to find easter egg. Also written and directed by James Gunn, Vol. 2 picks up just a few months after the first film, with the Guardians sliding into their new heroic roles- including fighting giant space monsters. Other than that, the plot is being kept under wraps, but it will undoubtedly have to do with Kurt Russell's Ego The Living Planet, revealed to be Star-Lord's father at this summer's San Diego Comic-Con.

The film has been described as "the biggest spectacle movie of all time." The Guardians will see some new additions to the team in the form of Yondu (Michael Rooker), Gamora's sister Nebula (Karen Gillan), and new character Mantis (Pom Klementieff). The film stars Chris Pratt, Dave Bautista, Zoe Saldana, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, Kurt Russell, Elizabeth Debicki, and Sylvester Stallone.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is scheduled to hit theaters on May 5, 2017. Hopefully by then some super fan has an epiphany, find the easter egg, and share it with the world. That way we can focus all our energy on deciphering the sequel.
