The Doctor Strange Blu-ray Trailer Will Totally Mess With Your Head

Warning: possible spoilers ahead for Doctor Strange ahead! You have been warned!

Scott Derrickson's Doctor Strange did a variety of important things for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It established the existence of real magic within the MCU, it brought Benedict Cumberbatch's Stephen Strange to the proceedings, and it doubled down on the idea of the multiverse. However, one of the most important things that happened in Doctor Strange was the introduction of the Time Stone hidden within the Eye of Agamotto. The film's time bending sequence were some of the coolest aspects of the entire affair, and a brand new trailer for the Doctor Strange home release has capitalized on that idea. Check it out below to see the weirdness for yourself.

That trailer should look pretty familiar to anybody who saw Doctor Strange when it hit theaters last fall. Just like in the climax of the film, the trailer for the upcoming home release reverses time (seemingly through the power of the Time Stone) to follow Stephen Strange as he goes from self-actualized hero back to the selfish surgeon. The trailer then resets the timeline to play in the correct direction, and we watch the whole thing unfold properly as we hear the voice of The Ancient One (Tilda Swinton) tell him that he "can become so much more." It's a beautifully bizarre trailer, and it perfectly captures the spirit of the film in less than a minute.

The Time Stone wasn't just a one-off MacGuffin for the first installment in the Doctor Strange franchise. As many of you already know, it will have far-reaching implications on the future of the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe. Because the Time Stone was one of the last pieces of the ever-growing Infinity Gauntlet puzzle, the stage has become increasingly set for all of our favorite Marvel heroes to face off against Josh Brolin's Thanos when The Avengers: Infinity War finally debuts on May 4, 2018.

Infinity Gauntlet Thanos

At this point, the only stone left on the table is the Soul Stone, and something tells us that we will see it pop up during the events of Thor: Ragnarok -- which will also conveniently feature a cameo from everyone's favorite mystical doctor. We cannot definitively confirm whether or not this is where we will see the final stone, but it certainly makes quite a bit of sense at this stage of the game.

As always, CinemaBlend will make sure to bring you all of the latest and greatest updates regarding the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe as more news becomes available to us. The Doctor Strange Blu-ray will hit shelves later this month on February 28.
