When The Next Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2 Trailer May Air
Marvel has been steadily delivering hardcore comic fans and casual moviegoers with Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 footage for several months now. It started in October when the studio released a 90-second "teaser," and that was followed in December by the first official teaser trailer. Then at the beginning of this month, a 60-second TV spot aired during the Super Bowl that showed off a lot of new material. Maybe those three previews were enough to get a lot of people excited for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, but Marvel is nowhere near done promoting the hell out of this blockbuster. In fact, there's word that we could see the next trailer as soon as next week.
Trailer Track discovered that the next Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 trailer has been rated, and while an official premiere date wasn't provided, they speculated that it could show up next week in time for Logan, which is being released on March 3. That would be a good fit, because even though the third Wolverine spinoff is a Marvel story from a separate studio, it's still a superhero movie, so the trailer would be reaching the perfect crowd. Even if the new Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 isn't attached to Logan, keep in mind that Beauty and the Beast is being released on March 17, and it's also part of the Disney family. Attaching the trailer to the live action adaptation of the tale as old as time would be effective corporate synergy. Whatever movie the next Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 trailer ends up airing alongside, don't be surprised if it's released online a day or two earlier to get ahead of any potential leaking.
For its May releases, Marvel often puts out a big trailer in March. There's only two months to go until the movie is made available to the public, so the studio wants to give those interested in the blockbuster one last big taste of what's to come before the TV spots start airing regularly. If the past trailers are any indication, expect the next Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 trailer to be around two and a half minutes long, give or take. As for what it will show, that remains a mystery. However, since the Super Bowl TV spot provided glimpses of Ayesha and Taserface, the movie's two main villains, the only major new character left to be shown is Kurt Russell's Ego, Star-Lord's father in the MCU. Footage of Ego was shown at San Diego Comic-Con last summer, but those not in Hall H that night still haven't seen what he looks like outside of toy previews, so it would be great if we could get at least a couple seconds of footage featuring him.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 blasts its way into theaters on May 5. Let us know what you'd like to see in the next trailer in the comments below.
