Do you have a need for speed that hasn't been satisfied since 2015? If you're a fan of the Fast & Furious franchise, I am willing to bet that you do. With The Fate of the Furious (can't get enough of that title) set to hit theaters in April, the marketing campaign for the upcoming blockbuster has officially kicked into high gear. In fact, a brand new trailer has just hit the web, and it promises all sorts of crazy action sequences in all kinds of high-tech vehicles. Check it out below to see for yourself.
I'll give you a second to let your pulse settle down because that trailer makes one thing abundantly clear: The Fate of the Furious is going to be an intense thrill ride of a movie. It's fairly obvious that this sequel won't be a one trick pony, as we're going to see chases, fist fights, gun fights, and even submarine fights. Beyond that, the film will even take the action into the sky for some high flying acrobatics. The Fast and the Furious films have consistently upped the stakes with each installment, and it has yet to slow down after eight films. That's just the way we like it.
This trailer also adds a bit of depth to the overall story. Although most of us have already assumed that Dom Toretto (Vin Diesel) hasn't really gone over to the dark side, this trailer makes it somewhat clearer that he's acting against his will to go up against his crew. We do not have a firm understanding as to why he has betrayed his friends, but I would wager that he will be back on the right side of his family by the time the credits roll on this film.
It is not just the scale of the action that has increased from movie to movie, as the Fast & Furious franchise has consistently increased the star power of its cast with each passing installment. Although Paul Walker tragically passed away before he could finish production on the last film in the series, The Fate of the Furious has compensated by bringing in Charlize Theron and Helen Mirren -- as well as giving Jason Statham a much more substantial role as Deckard Shaw. Needless to say, this is going to be an intense, star-studded blockbuster.
CinemaBlend will keep you up to date regarding any and all relevant details related to The Fate of the Furious as more information becomes available to us. The film will hit theaters later this year on April 14, 2017.
