A Real-Life Gotham City Is Being Built, So Pack Your Bags Now

Gotham City Batman V Superman

Gotham City may be a dark, gritty, and downright dangerous place, but that does not change the fact that any self-respecting Batman fan would want to go there. It is not just a place to live; it is an exciting metropolis that tests your mettle. In the words of Zero Year Batman: if you can make it there, you can make it anywhere. For years Gotham has only existed on the page or the screen, but soon you will actually be able to go there yourself when a real-life version of the city opens in the United Arab Emirates in 2018.

An enormous Warner Bros. World is set for construction in Abu Dhabi. According to THR, the basic structure of the park will include several different locations, including an entire section entirely designed to capture the creepy and gritty atmosphere of Batman's home turf. Warner Bros. World Abu Dhabi is expected to open in 2018, and it will cover 1.65 million square feet -- featuring 29 distinct attractions between all of the separate locales. Few specifics about the exact features and attractions of the Batman section of the park have come forward, but early glimpses at concept art have confirmed that this portion of the park will include rides themed for several different aspects of the Batman mythos, such as The Joker, The Riddler, and Mr. Freeze. Statistics on the crime rate in this section of the park are still unavailable, but we will keep you posted.

No word yet as to whether or not this Batman-themed section of Warner Bros. World Abu Dhabi will showcase a recreation of the Monarch Theater. If it does, I have a feeling that they might leave certain elements of Batman's history out. After all, it is a family park.

Batman Crime Alley

As previously mentioned, the Warner Bros. World Abu Dhabi will feature far more than just a Gotham City section -- although that is obviously going to become one of its biggest draws. In addition to the dark and brooding home of Batman, the amusement park will also provide sections recreating Superman's home in Metropolis, as well as areas devoted to Looney Toons and Hanna-Barbera. Finally, there will also be a section called Warner Bros. Plaza, which will recreate the Art Deco style of old Hollywood. Have you ever wanted to pretend that you're in a film noir movie? Now's your chance.

Warner Bros. World Abu Dhabi will open next year in the United Arab Emirates, and Gotham City will make its next silver screen appearance when Justice League premieres later this year on November 17, 2017. Here's everything we currently know about the upcoming DCEU team-up film.
