What Elastigirl Is Going To Be Up To In The Incredibles 2

Fans of the original Incredibles movie have been waiting for a sequel for years. Now, one is finally on the way, and it turns out, it's going to give a lot of focus to Elastigirl. While the first Incredibles movie was all about Mr. Increidble's desire to continue to be a hero, it seems that the sequel will show that Mrs. Incredible has an internal desire to do the same, something that will come out now that the family is known to the world again. According to voice actress Holly Hunter...
Helen's appetite for adventure comes to the fore. Whereas before, she was driven to become Mrs. Incredible out of necessity, where she went into it to save her husband, I think this time she really meets her own ambition head-on. The ambition of being an adventure is something that we get to explore.
The one scene of actual film footage that we saw in the Incredibles 2 teaser was a shot of Mr. Incredible and son Jack-Jack, as the baby's superpowers began to manifest. It appears that taking care of Jack-Jack will actually be a primary role that Mr. Increidble will take on in Incredibles 2, as he will be holding down the family's new home/hideout while Elastigirl will apparently be doing a lot more of the superhero action.
It also seems that Mr. Incredible won't be the only one entrusted with taking care of Jack-Jack, as babysitting is apparently what Violet and Dash will be doing when the film starts. A new image revealed by Entertainment Weekly shows the Incredible family, including Jack-Jack in a stroller pushed by Violet, which is reportedly from the very beginning of the movie, where the family will take on the Underminer, though director Brad Bird says the kids won't be doing much fighting.
Incredibles 2 picks up, literally, where the first film left off, with Mr. Incredible and Elastigirl battling The Underminer, while Violet and Dash are stuck with babysitting Jack-Jack. That's all we're saying for now. But rest assured, there are a lot more superheroics in store for our 'family dynamic.'
Holly Hunter also reveals that Incredibles 2 will fill in a lot of the gaps in the story of Elastigirl as a person, making her a more full-fledged character this time around. We'll apparently see a very competitive Elastigirl. Hunter points out that being ambitious and competitive are often traits that women are not expected to show, but that Elastigirl will bask in those areas.
While Incredibles 2 has clearly been in development for a long time, all animated features take a long time to produce, it seems like Incredibles 2 is coming out at the perfect time. It's a post-Wonder Woman world, where seeing female superheroes who are just as capable as their male counterparts seems to be exactly what audiences want to see.
The Incredible family, with Elastigirl in the lead, is set to arrive in theaters next summer.
