We've known for a while that Neighbors and Baywatch actor Zac Efron would be tackling a more serious role for his next movie. He's set to play charming and manipulative serial killer Ted Bundy for the movie Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile. Efron can't get enough of the gig, and recently he shared some images from the set of the upcoming movie, including one featuring himself in the Volkswagen Beetle Bundy transported hims and some of his victims in. You can take a look a the creepy image, below.

When Ted Bundy was still out on the prowl, he was known for driving a 1968 Volkswagen Beetle. The beige car was used in the aid of kidnapping and murdering women, and hairs were at one time found in the car and connected to some of the murders Ted Bundy later admitted to. The original vehicle has been housed in various museums and is still an item of fascination in the history of famous murders, and it looks as if Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile will also be including the car.

If you'd like a more close-up look at the Ted Bundy hair and costuming of the 1970s, have no fear, Zac Efron has you covered, as well. He also posted this behind-the-scenes look at the filming of Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile. Honestly, just including a set prop like the famous vehicle is eerie enough, but Efron also seems to be a good casting choice for Bundy, looks-wise, as well.

This isn't the first time that Zac Efron has shared a photo from the set via Instagram. Recently, we also got a look at Ted Bundy getting his mugshot taken for the new movie, and Zac Efron also looks spot-on. However, all of these shares from Efron also indicate he's really into the role and has hopes this will be a special movie. Compared to something like Baywatch, getting to play Ted Bundy is a really big gig, and could end up bringing a little more acclaim to the actor's portfolio, that is, if the movie is any good.

We've known for a while that Joe Berlinger is directing the project, which was written by Michael Werwie and will follow what is going on with Ted Bundy from the perspective of his girlfriend at the time, Elizabeth Kloefper. Kloefper will be played by Lily Collins in Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile. The movie doesn't currently have a release date, but seems to be coming together. We'll keep you updated as it continues moving forward. In the meantime, you can check out what is heading to theaters with our full movie schedule.
