Spider-Man: Far From Home’s Cast Knew About Endgame’s Secrets Before The Avengers

Flash in Far From Home

Spoilers ahead for Avengers: Endgame.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is in a fascinating place right now. Avengers: Endgame arrived months ago, and brought countless exciting plot twists. Security on the blockbuster was notoriously tight, with only Robert Downey Jr. given the full script in order to try and keep the secrets under wraps. While this allowed the cast of Endgame to enjoy watching the movie like everyone else, it turns out that the Spider-Man: Far From Home cast was actually privy to The Russo Brothers' twists and turns.

Jon Watts' Spider-Man sequel hit theaters over the Fourth of July weekend, and is making a ton of money at the box office. The movie is the first post-Endgame release, and follows up on the universe after Thanos' snap was reversed. Flash Thompson actor Tony Revolori recently revealed that Far From Home's cast was told the secrets of Endgame. As he put it:

We were all sat down in a room, at least I was, and Eric Carroll came in and told most of the cast what happens in Endgame, so I had known things that happened in Endgame before some of the Endgame actors themselves. We shot that a year before it [Endgame] came out so we had to figure all that out and they had to tell us all about it, which was great but also a little bit sad that I didn't get to experience that in the theater like everyone else.

Seriously, the Marvel Cinematic Universe is one well-oiled machine. The studio methodically plans its shooting and marketing, and spoilers are taken very seriously. But if the cast of Spider-Man: Far From Home were expected to do their jobs, they needed to understand the circumstances of the universe.

Tony Revolori's comments to Entertainment Tonight makes sense, although they still might take some fans by surprise. Marvel Studios is known for its high security, attempting to keep the spoilers of each blockbuster under wraps until their release. The stakes were especially high for Avengers: Endgame, as the movie was the cumulation of 21 movies and a decade of filmmaking.

As such, the contents of Endgame were kept secret, even from the starring cast. So while the actors were originally told that Tony's funeral scene was a wedding, the cast of Spider-Man: Far From Home filmed the follow-up movie with the knowledge of Iron Man's death. It all makes sense, although it's funny to think of Flash Thompson knowing about the events of Endgame before actual member of the Avengers. Hey, that's show business.
