He may not be in front of the camera this time around (more on that later), but just like on A Quiet Place, John Krasinski sat in the director’s chair for A Quiet Place: Part II, which began filming back this past summer. Now, with September nearly over, the sequel has wrapped principal photography, and Krasinski commemorated the occasion by posting this photo of himself with his wife Emily Blunt.
A Quiet Place: Part II still has a long way to go, but with the main shoot over, it was sweet of John Krasinski to mark this achievement by sharing this Twitter picture of him and Emily Blunt walking down a bridge together. It’s also fitting that A Quiet Place: Part II finished filming right around when fall starts. One season leads into another, and for Krasinski and his team, autumn will see them editing the sequel together and handling any other post-production work.
While not the first time John Krasinski and Emily Blunt had starred in the same movie, last year’s A Quiet Place marked the closest collaboration between the couple yet. The horror tale, which was met with critical acclaim and made over $340 million worldwide, took place in a reality where had been overrun by terrifying creatures highly sensitive to sound, requiring the central family and any other survivors to life their lives as silently as possible.
Unfortunately for John Krasinski’s Lee Abbot, he perished so that his wife and three children could escape being killed by the sound-sensitive monsters. Or at least, that’s how it looked. Perhaps A Quiet Place: Part II will deliver a twist showing that Lee somehow survived, or maybe Krasinski will still get to reprise his character through flashbacks. For now though, there’s no indication that Krasinski did any acting work on the sequel.
As for the rest of the Abbot family, led by matriarch Evelyn, they discovered these monsters’ weakness by the end of A Quiet Place: the sound emitted by a cochlear implant Lee created for his deaf daughter, Regan, that distresses them, especially when amplified. With this knowledge, the family members go on the offensive in A Quiet Place: Part II.
No specific plot details for A Quiet Place: Part II have been revealed yet other than it will delve into the origin of these monsters, but in addition to Emily Blunt, Millicent Simmonds and Noah Jupe reprising their respective roles, the cast also includes Cillian Murphy and Djimon Honsou (who replaced Brian Tyree Henry) in yet-to-be-disclosed roles. Although Krasinski wrote A Quiet Place with Bryan Woods and Scott Beck, the latter two took a step back from the sequel, and Krasinski tackled that script on his own.
A Quiet Place: Part II opens in theaters on March 20, 2020, so stay tuned to CinemaBlend for continuing coverage. In the meantime, plan your trips to the theater for the rest of this year with our 2019 release schedule.
