Yes, Chris Hemsworth Would Love To Join The Star Wars Franchise
Ever since news broke that Marvel Studios President (and now Marvel CCO) Kevin Feige would be developing a Star Wars movie, fans have been wondering what actors from the MCU he could bring to a galaxy far, far away. Multiple MCU heroes have expressed interest and you can now count the God of Thunder among their ranks. Yes, Chris Hemsworth would love to join the Star Wars franchise; when asked about the possibility the Aussie actor said:
If you’re booking a hyperspace journey to a galaxy far, far away, Chris Hemsworth wants a ticket. It seems that Chris Hemsworth if he wanted to be involved in Star Wars in some capacity was almost a question that didn’t need asking because the actor would love to be a part of the Star Wars franchise. And as he accurately noted at ACE Comic Con Midwest (via Comicbook.com), he’s not sure of many people that wouldn’t.
Chris Hemsworth would love to join the Star Wars franchise and be a part of that world, not just because of it’s popularity or what a big deal it is, but because he is a genuine fan. Like many of us, the actor says that he grew up with Star Wars, making any potential inclusion in that universe a no-brainer for him.
In his mind, being in a Star Wars project wouldn’t really be like acting for him. Because of how much he loves Star Wars, a role in a Star Wars project wouldn’t feel quite like a job or work and would instead feel like a fun experience he was getting to have as a fan. It seems that Chris Hemsworth would really value that sort of opportunity at this point in his career to just do something fun that he’d love to do as a fan of the material.
Chris Hemsworth is certainly no stranger to franchises, having had roles in Ghostbusters, Star Trek and Men in Black: International. But like fellow MCU’er and franchise collector Zoe Saldana, he still needs to check off the Star Wars box. He’s not the only one who wants in on Star Wars either. Captain America Chris Evans has also expressed interest and Captain Marvel Brie Larson is going hard and making her intentions known quite plainly that she wants to be a part of Feige's movie.
Unlike his fellow original Avengers Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans and Scarlett Johansson, Chris Hemsworth still seems to have plenty of years left in the MCU, especially after the franchise was re-invented and revitalized by Thor: Ragnarok. He will next be playing Thor (of undetermined weight) in Thor: Love and Thunder in 2021. Still, there’s nothing that says he can’t be gallivanting around the galaxy in two universes.
There are plenty of MCU actors Kevin Feige could bring in to his Star Wars movie, but just because there’s the MCU connection there doesn’t mean Chris Hemsworth or Brie Larson or whoever couldn’t show up in different future feature film or one of the multiple Disney+ series on the way or whatever. Star Wars isn’t going anywhere and while Star Wars isn’t necessarily known for superheroic physiques, Chris Hemsworth still has a look that would fit in the galaxy far, far away.
