To the uninitiated, this news might seem out of left field. But those who've been following the adventures of stepbrothers and kid inventors Phineas and Ferb will recognize Simon Pegg and Nick Frost's inclusion in the upcoming Halloween episode as par for the course.

The Disney Channel series began in 2007 and centers on the titular Phineas and Ferb. Every day, they put their imaginations and ingenuity to use building fantastic contraptions. Their inability to get busted by their mom is the utter bane of their teen sister Candace's existence. While she tries desperately to get the boys in trouble for their dangerous but guile-free shenanigans, the boys' pet platypus Perry goes undercover to stop the weekly evil antics of Dr. Heinz Doofenshmirtz, who desperately wants to rule or ruin the tri-state area. The show's formula is simple. Each week, Candace's ploy to get the boys busted is ruined by Perry's defeat of Doofenshmirtz, always dove-tailing in a preposterous and hilarious finale. It's deliciously daffy, and amid all this, Phineas and Ferb is rich with allusions to movies.

There's a wiki dedicated to them, noting nods to Star Wars, Star Trek, The Wizard of Oz, Frankenstein, My Fair Lady, The Little Mermaid, E.T., Monty Python and the Holy Grail and The Rocky Horror Picture Show, just to name a few.

Or how about the time the time the boys metThe Avengers, then referenced Doctor Who with a little "bigger on the inside" joke?

Then there are the cameos. Just flat out cameos. Like the time Ray Liotta showed up to play himself, sitting in for Perry's boss, Major Monogram.

Simon Pegg and Nick Frost seem a great fit for Phineas and Ferb's smart and silly brand of humor. The real question is, will they sing? Because wildly catchy songs are as crucial as the show's homages and zany adventures.

The Phineas and Ferb Halloween special is coming this October!
