A Quiet Place Spinoff, Mank Reviews & The Nelms Brothers Guest

Powered by RedCircle

Writer/directors Eshom and Ian Nelms join the show to discuss their new dark comedy, holiday flick Fatman (starring Walton Goggins, Marianne Jean-Baptiste, Mel Gibson). The movie follows Santa Claus who's had a hit placed on him by a disappointed child.

We also got word that Jeff Nichols (Mud, Midnight Special) has been tapped to write and direct a spinoff in the Quiet Place universe, and that Netflix is testing a more tradition, linear programming channel in France.

It's a big week for film releases. We give our impressions of Hillbilly Elegy (starring Amy Adams, Glenn Close), David Fincher's Mank (starring Gary Oldman, Lily Collins), and Freaky (starring Vince Vaughn, Kathryn Newton). If you think you'll enjoy Freaky, be sure to check out our interview with Vince in ReelBlend #142. He was another wonderful fit for the show.

Finally, this week we honor the late Sean Connery's work with a discussion on our favorite films and performances from his legendary career. Next week, we celebrate a legend in the making with #DiabloCodyBlend. On Twitter, let us know your favorite film written by Diablo Cody using the hashtag.
