Given Prince Harry's recent engagement to American actress Meghan Markle, there will soon be another Royal Wedding on our hands. These types of events capture the world's attention, and all eyes seem to be on the newly engaged couple these past few months. Details about their wedding have been slowly revealed, such as setting the date for May 19th, but it's not been all peaches and cream for the couple. Markle's estranged half-sister has been vocal about the future princess, and recently took umbrage with Prince Harry's comments about her family. He recently mentioned the Royal Family was the family Markle "never had", leading her half-sister Samantha Grant to take to Twitter to refute these comments, and throw some stones her sister's way.
It looks like Samantha Grant took some offense to Prince Harry's previous comments to BBC 4 Radio's Today. And while she seemed personally offended by the allegations, she also took the time to plug her upcoming tell-all book about she and Meghan Markle.
Samantha Grant, who also sometimes goes by Samantha Markle, has been promising more salacious details about her half-sister in her upcoming book. So while the world seems to be celebrating the Suits actress' coming nuptials to Prince Harry, there does seem to be controversy waiting in the wings. She's made plenty of damning comments about her half-sister in the past, including that her multiple sclerosis caused their distance, and that Markle was a social climber who didn't belong in the Royal Family. Harsh words. She went on to explain how loving a family they shared on Twitter, saying:
All in all, Samantha Grant does seem to be in the minority when it comes to the public opinion about Meghan Markle and her engagement to Prince Harry. While details about the wedding such as her dress make headlines, there have been some vocal supporters who are even considering her the next people's princess. Furthermore, the inclusion of a woman of color into the Royal Family felt like a major step toward for the crown. And with the new Royal Wedding likely being televised like Prince William and Catherine Middleton's in 2011, Markle's popularity and iconography will likely only be growing in the coming year.
