With only a mere few days to go before Meghan Markle's Royal Wedding to Prince Harry, you would think the former Suits actress would be the main focus at the moment. But in a surprising and unusual turn-of-events, it's Thomas Markle, Meghan Markle's father, who is taking up all the attention. Following a recent tabloid scandal where the eldest Markle was reportedly staging photos of himself to sell to publications around the world, it was revealed a day or two ago that the father of the bride would no longer be taking his daughter down the aisle at the Windsor Castle. Everyone was wondering whether the daughter would respond to this Kensington Palace address, and in a statement released earlier today, the actress claimed that it wasn't necessarily this incident that revoked Mr. Markle's wedding invitation Instead, it may be a health problem that's keeping the dad away from Ms. Markle's royal nuptials. Do you buy it or not?
In the official statement, once again released by Kensington Palace, Meghan Markle addressed Thomas Markle's inability to attend her upcoming wedding by issuing the following response.
Sadly, my father will not be attending our wedding. I have always cared for my father and hope he can be given the space he needs to focus on his health. I would like to thank everyone who has offered generous messages of support. Please know how much Harry and I look forward to sharing our special day with you on Saturday.
As we mentioned earlier, this situation would be pretty wild if it were any wedding, let alone the Royal Wedding. But a scandal like this isn't going to stop them from getting everything prepared. By all other estimations, everything should be set into motion for this weekend's extravagant ceremony. The guest list has been filled with thousands of attendees, the musical guest is (probably) in order, the surely-gorgeous wedding dress is already picked out and ready to go and the Queen has officially given her seal of approval for the forthcoming royal event. With everything in order, it's only a matter of waiting until the big day comes. For Meghan Markle, that day probably can't come soon enough, because it means this unfortunate maiden family scandal will (hopefully) wash away.
Meanwhile, if you want to see the Royal Wedding yourself, you're surely in luck, because it's going to be broadcast live around the world. Grab your tea, put on your best attire (if you wish...) and watch Meghan Markle be formally invited into the royal family when she ties the knot with Prince Harry. Even if her own family will not be completely in attendance on Saturday.
