Why Meghan Markle's Sister Won't Stop Publicly Criticizing Her

Samantha Markle Inside Edition

Throughout this past year, the world has been charmed by Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex herself, particularly as she made her way into the royal family via this past May's Royal Wedding. But she has a tough critic: her own half-sister, Samantha Markle. The drama is reportedly because she hasn't spoken to her father, Thomas Markle, since she joined the British monarchy earlier this summer. Yes. It seems Thomas Markle isn't the only Markle beefing with the royal family.

Much like Meghan Markle's father, Samantha Markle is speaking out about it, and she's unafraid to be critical of how she has been neglecting to speak to her dad. Here's what Samantha Markle had to say about her famous sister, particularly how she has been treating her biological father since his tabloid controversy soon resulted in a health crisis that caused him to be unable to attend the heavily-viewed wedding.

I worked in media most of my life and in broadcasting, so because my sister is suddenly royal isn't grounds for me to stop doing all of that. Let's face it -- we all have to survive. Money makes the world go round, so if you want to call that cashing in, that's fine, but I think no one in media would refuse a paycheck for talking about the royal and, as a family, we're not subject to royal protocol. Why would I stop living because we have a family issue going on?

Samantha Markle's quote comes from her recent conversation with Good Morning Britain. Some critics have been claiming that Samantha is attempting to exploit her sister's recent fame, which is a criticism that has also been directed towards Thomas Markle as well. But Samantha Markle believes she's perfectly allowed to speak out about how she is feeling, because it's her life and her stories. If people wish to hear about them, why would she hold back? That's the logic that seems to be in Samantha's train of thought at the moment. Here's what Samantha Markle had to say about it.

No one has a copyright on our life experiences and so, I think the public forgets that within the family, we're each individuals with our own life experiences. With all due respect, it's not just Meghan. We're entitled to share that. We're entitled to be open about it and if we can shed some light on some issues for the public, then great and we can enjoy the process. I don't think there's anything wrong with that. It's not disparaging. It's not harmful.

Whether or not Samantha Markle has a point, the royal family is reportedly very unhappy with how Meghan Markle's family has been so willing to gossip with the media since Markle joined the British royal family. While Thomas Markle and Samantha Markle aren't looking to win the family over, they are clearly not looking to make friends either. It should be noted that Meghan Markle and Buckingham Palace hasn't responded publicly to the claims and dismissals made by Samantha Markle at this time. Though, naturally if they do make any official comments, you'll be sure to hear about it here at CinemaBlend.
