Starting in 2019, the apps housed by the Kardashians and the Jenners will be no more. It's not yet clear why the sisters decided to cease operations on these apps, but in the new year that's set to come in the next couple of weeks, these apps won't be updated. Here's what they said in their statement:
We've had an incredible experience connecting with all of you through our apps these past few years but have made the difficult decision to no longer continue updating in 2019. We truly hope you've enjoyed this journey as much as we have, and we look forward to what's ahead.
The public statement, which was issued to each of the Kardashian/Jenner sisters' personal websites, claims that it was a tough call to make, but they felt it was what they needed to do in 2019. But the group maintains to have ideas moving forward -- away from the apps they created -- in the new year ahead. It's not yet known what the sisters have in store in the fresh new year that's set to arrive, but it's evident that it'll not involve updating their brand apps.
The apps were launched in 2015. For a fee at a monthly rate, the apps allowed fans of the Keeping Up with the Kardashians stars to see moments that weren't broadcast on the show or found on their social media. There were also tips about workouts and meal plans they could follow to stay in shape. It's possible that the app wasn't bringing in the numbers that the Kardashians and Jenners hoped, or maybe they had disagreed with the company that brought it to phones around the world? Or maybe they just didn't think it was right for their brand at the moment and decided it was best to part ways? We'll have to wait and see.
As sad as it is, the Kardashians/Jenners felt it was time to close this chapter, and they promise to supply more content in the upcoming year. Whatever they decide to replace the apps with will almost assuredly be known about. The Kardashians and Jenners aren't shy about connecting on social media. There will likely be an update suggesting what they are hoping to replace their apps with at the beginning of the month, and CinemaBlend will keep you posted then.
This announcement comes a few months after the Kardashians announced they were closing operations on DASH, their chain of clothing and accessories stores, earlier this year. Evidently, they are re-organizing their priorities and they feel that the future doesn't hold the stores or the apps. It could possibly be related to their busier lives, not only with the show and their brand but with their family lives. They have a lot going on at the moment.
There will always be something in the news about the Kardashians and Jenners. We'll be sure to keep you in the loop on what's set to come. Meanwhile, for the latest updates in film, television, video games, pop culture and a whole lot more, you can be sure to check back with CinemaBlend.
