Britney Spears’ latest album endeavor has slowly but steadily been coming together over the past few months. A couple of weeks ago, the singer announced her eighth studio album will be called Britney Jean and on Friday, the singer revealed the cover art for the new endeavor, along with a personalized note. The cover art is a little different than I would have expected. While it features some of the neon lights I have begun to associate with her upcoming show in Las Vegas, the cover art is pretty simple and not nearly as showy as the cover art and video for her first single, “Work Bitch.”

What the cover art does have going for it is that it is up close and personal. Spears and her album collaborator,, keep talking about how “personal” her new album will be, but I haven’t seen a ton of evidence thus far. Until this cover art. Spears’ look has been hyper-sexualized and overly glammed out over the last decade, and while she looks pretty uncovered in the photo, it’s a more vulnerable Britney than we typically get to see. Plus, that cover art came with a personalized note from the star herself.

The singer’s note is straight from the heart to fans, but also talks about the process of recording her brand new album. She mentions wanting to show listeners the “different sides” of who she is. All in all, she’s very grateful she’s been able to maintain an audience of fans for a period of fifteen years.
"I poured my heart and soul into this album and it's been an incredible journey. I've learned a lot about myself, and as I am finishing, I am reminded of the incredible foundation that has supported me for the last 15 years. "

Britney Jean will actually hit outlets fairly soon. Right now, she’s working on the “finishing touches” before the album is officially released on December 3. Additionally, the singer’s Vegas gig at the Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino will begin right after the holidays. Her first gig is December 27, and she will be playing 48 dates during 2014.
