The Duggars Are Considering Adopting A Child

For most people, 19 children would be more than enough, but the Duggars aren’t most people. Married since 1984, Jim Bob and Michelle have devoted their lives to God’s plan and having as many children as the big man in the sky sees fit. Now, however, the couple believes adoption may be in the cards.

While visiting an orphanage in China as part of a mission trip, the family stopped in and saw the plight of many young orphans. According to People, ever since, Michelle says the kids have really been pushing to have another child in the house. You’d think the kids would get tired of excessive sharing, but apparently, they are as selfless as their parents.

"The kids are definitely pushing towards wanting us to open our home up to another child or more. They see how much we have been blessed with and how little so many children have and they want to share. We tell our children that would have to be something that is God's will for our family, and we will see if it is. Our children love children, and we all do."

More importantly, however, Jim Bob and Michelle have actually discussed the ups and downs of adopting a child. After miscarrying a little girl named Jubilee in 2011, it’s no surprise they might want to look into less painful options.

“We have friends that have adopted children who are a great influence in our lives, and we have talked about their experiences. So it's something we've considered. We have to know for sure that is what God wants for us to do.”

Jim Bob and Michelle’s son, Josh, and his wife recently announced they were having their third baby, so there will be plenty of reasons for the large family to celebrate and plenty of time to think about an important decision like adoption.
