Less than a year after the FBI surprisingly included their fans on the annual National Gang Threat Assessment, Violent J and Shaggy 2 Dope of Insane Clown Posse have announced they’re preparing to fight back. The twosome are reportedly looking into a potential lawsuit and will begin providing free legal council to all Juggalos who think their rights have been violated thanks to the gang designation.
According to Spin, the musicians made the announcement earlier this weekend at the annual Gathering of the Juggalos. It was met with raucous approval and even a few tears as all were advised to visit the group’s new website Juggalos Fight Back to have their stories reviewed by ICP’s official lawyer.
It’s unclear why the FBI decided to label the Juggalos a “loosely-organized hybrid gang”, but one would imagine that designation will get shot down within the next few years. Plus, even if a small percentage of the band’s fans are actually engaged in a criminal conspiracy, it’s ridiculous the other 99% would be considered gang members. If one hundred Oasis fans started a meth lab together, everyone with “Wonderwall” on his or her iPod wouldn’t be subject to the gang affiliation stigma.
If and when ICP gets a real lawsuit going against the FBI, we’ll be sure to bring you the details. Until then, hide those hatchet man tattoos and keep your black and white face paint out of the car to keep the gang task forces away.
