Katy Perry Discusses Rihanna’s Pot Smoking, Legit Or Poor Form?

To openly talk or not to openly talk about personal life choices is a decision everyone needs to make when they get older, whether they’re famous or not. Some people are very comfortable chatting with bosses and co-workers about going out and getting drunk on the weekends or even engaging in a little pot smoking. Other people, however, choose to keep their personal lives decidedly personal. Depending on the individual situations, there’s not inherently any right or wrong way to go about it, but typically, how to handle it is a decision everyone gets to make on their own. That’s why it’s genuinely frowned upon to openly discuss how drunk or high your friends may have gotten, but apparently, no one gave that memo to Katy Perry.

This week, Perry sat down for an interview with Canadian Elle in which she talked music, love, touring, Vitamin C, tea, hiking and her buddy Rihanna. It’s the latest topic that attracted the most attention, specifically because of what it seemed to reveal. Here’s the exact quote…

”I think that Rihanna always looks so fresh and I’m like, ‘How do you do that? We all know how much pot you smoke! And you don’t sleep because you’re on Instagram at four o’clock in the morning.”

On the one hand, it’s pretty clear that comment was actually meant as a compliment. She was trying to explain to the interviewer how beautiful Rihanna is, and beyond that, it’s not exactly a secret that the pop star is down with the occasional smoke. She’s tweeted pictures of weed before.

On the other hand, however, Rihanna is now going to have to answer questions about this. She didn’t speak to the media yesterday or do anything wrong, and yet, now her face is plastered all over GNews in reference to smoking pot. That’s not exactly fair, and Perry put her in that position.

What do you think? Were Perry’s comments legit or poor form? Let us know your thoughts by voting in the poll below…
