Macaulay Culkin has never been the fat kid. During his remarkable run in the early 90s, he was well within the proper weight range for a boy his age, and by the time he reached adulthood, the actor was skinnier than most men. For a long time, that thinness was never considered a problem, but after some recent photos emerged showing Culkin down a few more pounds, many began to wonder whether there might be some sort of problem.
The most alarming of those photos first ran on Entertainment Tonight, and it depicted the star, with more facial hair than usual, looking strikingly gaunt. Not surprisingly, many outlets ran with the picture and hinted Culkin might be manorexic, but the actor’s representative has since released a statement blasting charges that there’s a problem. Here’s an excerpt of the denial, as per People…
"Macaulay Culkin is in perfectly good health. For anyone to speculate or suggest otherwise is reckless, irresponsible and destructive. The massive media attention towards the status of Mr. Culkin's health is unnecessary but duly noted."
Now, there’s two ways to look at this situation. The first is that Macaulay randomly shed a few pounds as a result of sickness or stress or whatever, and because of his small stature to begin with, the results were way more overt. The second is that Macaualy has some kind of eating-related issue and/ or serious health problem that caused the weight loss. At this juncture, I find it premature to settle on the latter. I’m still willing to give him the benefit of the doubt, but judging by internet comments, a lot of people definitely disagree with me.
