A lot of celebrities go broke because they never hire financial managers. Without any idea what the hell to do with all that money, they make bad business decisions, spend recklessly and often don’t seek a second opinion until it’s too late. Rihanna, however, was smart enough to put her finances in the hands of professionals immediately. Unfortunately, it appears she might not have hired the right ones, and now she’s absent millions of dollars that should have been in her bank account.
According to E! News, the singer has filed a lawsuit against Berdon LLP for grossly mismanaging her funds, incorrectly filing her tax returns and keeping an unfair percentage of profits. Back in 2009, Rihanna’s Last Girl on Earth tour was apparently a financial disaster. The pop star contends no one from Berdon ever told her anything was wrong; so, she continued on the same way without any notion she was heading for disaster.
When Rihanna became aware of everything that happened, she fired Berdon and reportedly went in a completely new direction with a different company. Considering her last tour actually turned a profit, that sounds like the smart move. It’s unclear whether she’ll be able to recover any of the last income following her lawsuit, but even if she doesn’t, this is far from a disaster.
When most celebrities find out they’re broke, it’s usually at a time in which they can’t generate much in the way of new income. Luckily for Rihanna, she is still at the peak of her earning potential; so, while no one likes to feel cheated, she should be able to re-fill up her bank account in just a few short years.
