Is Russell Brand A Good Guy For Not Taking Katy's Money?

When news first broke that Katy Perry and Russell Brand were having problems, all the evidence seemed to indicate they were headed for a really messy divorce. Rumors were flying that he didn’t respect her parents and that she was partying too much for his taste. Eventually, the divorce did come, but thus far, it’s actually been pretty pleasant. The pair reportedly met once and were able to iron out the basic parameters of a settlement. Other couples should take not. I’ve seen jilted former spouses argue it out in court over crap neither of them even really wanted. It’s actually pretty refreshing to see a couple break-up so neatly.

The question is why. Why have these two seemingly been able to talk out the concerns without dragging each other through the mud? It’s unlikely we’ll ever know the full answer to that, but news that broke earlier today might give some indication. Apparently, Brand has decided he doesn’t want her money. Upon first glance, it would appear the couple, both major stars, probably made roughly the same amount of money; however, while they were together, she apparently crushed harder. So much harder in fact that he could legally ask for twenty million dollars in the divorce settlement.

If the reports are to be believed, he’s not going to do that. I find his decision to be admirable. He’s already got enough to pay his bills, and I approve of him walking away without anything extra. What do you think? Is Russell a good guy for saying no to the twenty million, or is he a fool? Let us know by voting in the poll below…
