Preacher Season 2 Trailer Is Full Of Fights, Explosions And New Comic Characters

It seems that just about every channel on TV is boasting at least one series based on a comic book, but there's absolutely nothing out there quite like AMC's Preacher. Hell, there's nothing that fits inside the same ballpark. Things are only getting more insane as the surreal-ish drama heads into Season 2, as evidenced by the trailer below, which is a slick first look at all the fist-fights, fireballs and comic book villains that'll beam into our eyeballs later this month. Check it out!

Have you finished cheering yet? I haven't, really, but I'm willing to clamp it down in order to finish talking about it at a normal volume. While Season 1 of Preacher took an intentional departure from the comic series in order to develop the central trio's respective backstories, Season 2 will jump into more faithful storylines created by Garth Ennis and the late Steve Dillon, and they'll bring out some of the source material's best moments and characters.

And we might as well just get right to bringing up the most exciting appearance of all the new elements: our big first look at the iconic comic villain Herr Starr, as played by Pip Torrens. With his intimidating eye always locked on keeping his own version of order in the world, Herr Starr is the head of The Grail, and the creepy zealot will likely cause some major trouble for Jesse & Co. in the coming days. Sadly, we don't get much more than this from the trailer.

Another new face that we'll get to see quite a bit in Season 2 is that of Featherstone, the comic-sourced Grail underling played by Better Call Saul vet Julie Ann Emery. Like her counterpart on the page, the live-action Featherstone will showcase the utmost devotion to The Grail and Herr Starr. And she'll also apparently be on stage singing tunes, because hey, Season 2 is shifting to New Orleans for a while, and if you can't have music in New Orleans, then you're doing it wrong.

Hard to tell, though, if Featherstone will be singing jazz classics from the likes of Ella Fitzgerald, or if she'll be singing out instructions for Grail operatives to strike. Maybe a little bit of both.

Even though we didn't get to see much of the villains, there's more than enough of Jesse, Tulip and Cassidy to go around. And boy, do they go around, somehow always present and close by whenever things are going to shit in the outside world, such as big explosions. Or cops holding hands? Well, definitely the explosions part.

Sadly, there is still a short while to wait until our guardian angels arrive, as Season 2 of Preacher is set to hit AMC for a special night premiere on Sunday, June 25, at 9 p.m ET. If you don't have a prayer when it comes to keeping track of offseason primetime shows, check out our summer premiere schedule to plan your nights accordingly.
