Could An OC Reunion Happen? Here’s What One Star Said

The O.C. cast

Everything old is new again! It seems like there's no limit to the number of TV shows that are seeing a second life on the airwaves, with examples like the upcoming Will and Grace revival, the return of Twin Peaks, and Gilmore Girls over on Netflix. As long as it had a big enough fanbase, it seems like nothing is off the table, so what does that mean for The O.C.? While there don't seem to be any serious talks about it, star Rachel Bilson sounds like she's down to return to Orange County anytime.

I'm always open to things. I don't know what it would look like with our characters being old now. We were riding skateboards on the pier; I don't know what they do now as 30-year-olds. But it would be nice to see everybody again.

A reunion of The O.C. doesn't sound like it's in the cards right now, but at least one person in the cast sounds happy to return. Rachel Bilson, who played Summer Roberts on the teen drama, revealed that she would return if the show was ever brought back for one more season. She doesn't really know what the show would be about, seeing as it was a TEEN drama, and they are all adults now. Anyone past 30 years of age on a skateboard who isn't Tony Hawk is not one that you want to spend any long amount of time with.

As Rachel Bilson recounts to E!, she doesn't even really quite remember what happened to Summer in the series finale (the show ended in 2007). She usually gets asked what she thinks her character is up to these days, and Bilson figures that Summer is married to Seth (Adma Brody) with a couple kids and probably spends plenty of time at the beach. For those curious, Summer became a well-known environmentalist at the end of the show, and eventually married her longtime love interest, Seth.

The O.C. was a teenage drama series that initially aired on Fox and ran from 2003 to 2007. It followed a group of teenagers living in Orange County, California and the various ups and downs of their lives. The show featured plenty of melodrama mixed with comedy, and initially was quite high in the ratings before low numbers forced a cancellation in Season 4.

The O.C. may not be coming back soon, but you can catch Rachel Bilson in the current season of Nashville (also starring The O.C.'s Chris Carmack) on CMT.
