Stranger Things Reveals New Season 3 Location And Character With Cheesy 1980s Commercial

We are still many months away from seeing Stranger Things Season 3 in its entirety, since the production has only been in action for around two and a half months. But that has allowed enough time for the production team to put together a fantastically cornball promotional video showing off the next big Hawkins location: Starcourt Mall. Put on your flip-shades and your denim everything, because we're going to the mall! Enjoy the video, and keep an eye out for Maya Hawke's new character Robin.

We are clearly in for a world of entertainment when Stranger Things returns for Season 3, people, and Hawkins isn't going to know what hit it when the Starcourt Mall opens up. Partially because the tacky-as-all-the-fucks clothing makes it hard for anybody's eyeballs to achieve proper recognition on a regular basis. But also because of all the sweet sights and sounds of the American Dream at work.

Honestly, as much as I'd like to good-naturedly poke fun at this cheese-tastic video, my brain really wants to mourn the fact that today's malls are only a shell of what they were 30 years ago. I totally miss perusing Waldenbooks and Sam Goody as a teenager, and had I ever seen an Orange Julius employee juggling fruit while taking orders, I'd probably miss that now, too.

And obviously THIS mall is the best mall of all, since it contains an ice cream shop where Joe Keery's Steve Harrington works. Though I gotta say, Scoops Ahoy isn't doing itself any favors by forcing Steve to wear that hat over his perfectly coifed 'do. But at least we can look forward to seeing Maya Hawke's new character Robin here, though she'll likely fit into everyone's lives in ways that don't feature ice cream at all. We'll just have to wait and see what those ways will be. And while we're waiting, we'll be staring at Steven in a sailor costume.

Because this is Stranger Things, fans shouldn't expect to see that mall make it through the entire season without being used as the setting for some high-stakes mayhem. Adding to that mayhem will be the other new cast members, which include Jake Busey as a journalist and Cary Elwes as the new mayor. Beyond that, most other Season 3 details are being kept under wraps, and not even David Harbour is able to reveal very much about what's coming.

Stranger Things Season 3 doesn't have a release date set up yet, but the video does hint at Netflix holding off until next summer before letting fans in on the mall-bound fun. Hopefully that's not the case, but until we find out more, you can head to our summer premiere schedule for all the other new and returning shows.
