Don Cheadle Is The New Donald Duck For Disney's DuckTales
Just when you may have thought that the season finale of Disney's DuckTales revival could not get any more exciting, it does. Marvel's Cinematic Universe and House of Lies' Don Cheadle will guest star in the series' Season 1 finale. And he will be doing so as one of Disney's most iconic characters -- Donald Duck! Disney has announced that Cheadle will vocalize the "intelligible" version of Donald Duck's voice. How will Donald Duck manage that? Well, it is all thanks to a little help from technology.
In the one-hour season finale, Donald Duck will get a chance to be heard in a new way thanks to an innovative voice box that will have him sounding more understandable, and Don Cheadle will take the vocal reins of the character. Donald Duck's new voice will be heard in the episode titled "The Shadow War!," which finds Magica De Spell super close to getting her revenge on Scrooge McDuck. With that threat looming, the family will join forces to devise a plan to rescue Scrooge and save the city.
A rescue mission and Don Cheadle voicing Donald Duck! From the sound of things, there will be no shortage of thrilling events unraveling in the Season 1 finale. The Oscar-nominated actor is the latest superstar talent to take part in the DuckTales finale. Cheadle joins a vocal ensemble that also includes the returns of Hamilton's Lin Manuel- Miranda as Fenton Crackshell-Cabrera, Doctor Who's Catherine Tate as Magica De Spell, and Orange is the New Black's Kimiko Glenn as Lena.
Thanks to how iconic DuckTales and Donald Duck are, it makes sense that the hit cartoon has been able to lure a talented actor of Don Cheadle's distinguished caliber to the cast. And the show's latest good fortune in landing Cheadle would be enough to make even Scrooge smile. And based on the statement released, Cheadle sounds elated to be taking on the role. Fans will have to wait a while longer to hear Cheadle's take on Donald Duck, but enthusiasm tends to create visionary results. So it should be amazing!
DuckTales introducing the concept of a voice box gives Donald Duck a new means to vocally express himself. And it is an intriguing idea that could theoretically have Don Cheadle reprising the role in the future. One would hope it will not turn out to be a one-and-done thing.
