The Big Outlander Meeting That Will Finally Happen In Season 4

By splitting its stories between the 18th century and the 20th century, Outlander has all but guaranteed that some characters will never cross paths. That said, the ability of certain people to travel through time does open certain doors for folks to meet against all odds, and the upcoming fourth season will finally introduce two people who are very important to each other despite being born in different centuries. Yes, Jamie and daughter Briana will meet in Outlander Season 4. Here's what executive producer Matthew B. Roberts has to say about it:

I can say that they will meet, and it will bring some tears. This moment is such a big deal, we try to be as true to the source material as possible.

Well, in case you had any doubts (even after the thrilling Season 4 trailer) that Outlander wasn't done with time travel, Matthew B. Roberts' comments should have you convinced that somebody will be switching centuries when the next batch of episodes kicks off this fall. Admittedly, the time traveler in the trailer is long dead and definitely not Jamie or Briana, but the trailer does tease another dance around a group of stones like those that sent Claire back to meet Jamie at Craigh na Dun. Without getting into spoilers, there are plenty of ways for either Briana or Jamie to switch centuries.

Now, let's get into spoilers courtesy of Diana Gabaldon's book series. If you don't want to know what happens in the Drums of Autumn novel that introduces Briana and Jamie, you may want to skip the next paragraph, because spoilers are ahead.

In Drums of Autumn, Briana finds herself on a mission to learn what happens to her parents back in the 18th century, with only history books and the help of Roger to guide her. When she discovers some bad news for what will befall them unless she changes history, Briana decides to travel back in time to Scotland and then head to America. Unfortunately, we already know that Outlander intends to include a brutal scene for poor Briana, so she won't have an easy time on her mission to reunite with her mom and meet her dad. At least Matthew B. Roberts' tease to TVLine is assurance that Briana and Jamie will meet. Book readers can apparently count on the show sticking to how the introduction happens in Drums of Autumn pretty closely. End spoilers.

We still have a couple of months to wait until Outlander Season 4 premieres on Sunday, November 4 at 8 p.m. ET on Starz and introduces the villain who will be even worse than Black Jack Randall, if you can even imagine such a monster. Outlander did just debut a cool new interactive feature to get fans pumped to discover what's in store in the new season of the show.
