First, the good news. Legacies is bringing a character from The Originals back for its “darker” Season 2. Now, the not-as-good news. They will not be back for as long as fans probably hoped. Ever since the spinoff began airing, fans have been clamoring for their favorites from the original series to appear.

Cue the confirmation that actress Riley Voelkel will be bringing Freya Mikaelson to Legacies! That’s right, Hope’s aunt is coming to the spinoff, per TV Guide. How her visit comes to be, and why it happens, are not currently known. However, there is one mystery that you can take off the list.

Hope’s Aunt Freya is currently slated to guest star in a single episode of Legacies. What episode will she appear in? Fans will not have to wait super long into Season 2’s run before they get to catch a glimpse of her. Freya will make her Legacies debut in Episode 6.

So far, that is the only episode that Freya is slated to appear in, which means her appearance may be one-and-done. Hopefully, with the door being left open for her to eventually return. Legacies’ executive producer, Julie Plec, previously teased that Season 2 could see the arrival of some of the Originals. Freya’s return makes good on that!

Fans have reason to remain hopeful that other franchise favorites will follow. For now, fan-favorites such as Caroline are still being waited for. Her presence will be felt in the Season 2 premiere via some off-screen involvement. As for other franchise characters, fans will have to wait and see if more of them are on their way.

Could Freya be the start of more arrivals from Legacies’ predecessor series? Maybe. It will be interesting to learn what Freya gets up to. Legacies left off with her niece, Hope, in the middle of a huge twist. One that will find her paired in a situation and dynamic that echoes The Vampire Diaries’ Bonnie and Damon.

What brings Freya to Legacies? And why is her wife, Keelin, not with her? Could she be? Again, not a lot to go on, but you can bet the answers are around the corner. Freya is one of many characters from The Vampire Diaries universe to make their way to Legacies. She should not be the last.

While Hope comes from The Originals, she was conceived on Vampire Diaries. I know, it is confusing, but it is what it is. Legacies is already home to Alaric Saltzman, and Matt Donovan, who may become the mayor in Season 2. Time will tell if more favorites follow them and Freya.

Apparently, Freya was supposed to make her way onto the spinoff sooner, according to TVLine. Actress Riley Voelkel’s schedule with The CW’s Roswell, New Mexico ended up conflicting, and her Legacies debut got delayed. Now, it is going to happen!

Legacies will be back with its Season 2 premiere on Thursday, October 10, at 9 p.m. ET on The CW. You can catch up on the first season via Netflix, along with arriving new content. The supernatural drama is part of this fall’s premieres.
